Having had very few opportunities to sing our festive repertoire this year, we were pleased to join in the Teignmouth community celebrations for Christmas. We sang on two occasions, both in The Triangle.
Our first opportunity was on 4th December, in leading the singing of five traditional carols. We were joined by members of the local clergy, who introduced each carol. Despite the damp weather, a small crowd enjoyed the carols and were happy to sing along with us. We were told that “the choir sang wonderfully”.
On 11th December, we sang a varied programme including carols and popular Christmas songs. The weather was kinder, and a good sized crowd gathered to listen. We were particularly pleased to sing ‘Gabriel’s Message’, a new piece learnt for this season. An upbeat version of ‘The Holly and the Ivy’ had the audience clapping along. All in all, this was an enjoyable occasion for everyone, and a comment from someone watching that we “brightened my day” was how we all felt.
Thanks go to Lydia, Roger and Martyn for their hard work.
